* Guided tour of the wine cellar and wine tasting included
You’re going to visit the town of Orange. This Roman town stands out thanks to its
remains, especially its majestic Ancient Theatre, the biggest theatre in Imperial
Rome and the best preserved in Europe, a UNESCO world heritage site, its Arc de Triomphe…
and of course its Art and History Museum.
Then, we‘ll make our way towards Châteauneuf du Pape where you’ll discover the most
prestigious vineyards in the Côtes du Rhône. The vines were originally planted by
the Popes in the Middle Ages, and have been famous ever since the 18th century. Châteauneuf
du Pape became the first officially recognised ‘appellation d’origine contrôlée’
of the Côtes du Rhône in 1936. It extends over more than 3,300 hectares and is worked
by more than 55 private estates and 300 wine growers. You’ll be invited to take a
guided tour of one cellar to understand the winemaking process and use of oak casks
and barrels. You’ll have the opportunity to find out more and taste the wines and
vintages from one famous domain of Châteauneuf du Pape,in a privately reserved room.
On our return, we’ll pass through the village of Châteauneuf du Pape to visit the
hill-top castle, and admire the fabulous views over the vineyards and the Rhône Valley.
